Licensed Massage Therapist
FAQ
What methods of payment do you accept?
Currently I accept cash or check.  Payment is due upon the session's completion.

What do you charge?
Please refer to my Rates page.  Also take a look at the Promotional Offers page to see if there is a discount that may apply to you.

What should I wear when receiving a massage?
Some massage modalities (e.g., Thai and Barefoot Sports) require loose-fitting clothing such as yoga or sweat pants or shorts. Where required, I have notated this in the Menu of Services.  Otherwise, you will likely be asked to disrobe to the level of your comfort during the massage.  You will be fully draped (covered up) at all times.

How do I know what the pressure should be when receiving massage?  What is "too deep"?
Everyone has their own personal preference when it comes to the pressure applied in a massage.  Some people's mottoes are "No pain, no gain" and others really enjoy a lighter, more relaxing touch.  I tell people that I can only speak for myself, but what I prefer when receiving massage is for the pressure to be deep enough that it feels therapeutic--like it's doing something beneficial for me--but not so deep that I can't breathe normally, am clenching other muscles, or otherwise am in pain or cannot relax.

Please be sure to give honest feedback when prompted by the massage therapist if the pressure is right.  At any point throughout the massage, if the pressure is too light or too deep for you, I encourage you to say so.

What are some common benefits to massage?
Clients may experience relief from chronic or acute aches, pains, and injuries; improved performance of lymph, digestive, and circulatory systems; and enhanced body awareness and physical coordination.  Bodywork has also been shown to benefit the skin, nervous system, soft tissue,  immune system, chakras and energetic bodies.
What song is that on the Home Page?  Where can I hear more?
It's titled "Paint My Room Green" and was written and produced by your favorite massage therapist/songwriter, Suzanna Young!  If you are interested in hearing more of my work, please visit
www.myspace.com/WindDizzy.  I also have some tracks available for free download at www.AmieStreet.com.
How much experience do you have as a massage therapist?
It is always good to ask this question of your practitioner.  Find out if the practitioner is not only certified, but licensed to practice in your area as well. If you are seeking a special kind of therapy, such as prenatal massage, it is especially recommended to be sure your therapist has proper certification.

I graduated from the Santa Barbara Body Therapy Institute in 2003 and am certified in all the modalities listed on my Menu of Services page.  I am licensed in Santa Barbara and surrounding areas.

I have practiced massage on a professional basis alongside chiropractors, acupuncturists, estheticians, and other highly successful massage therapists; at a massage school and at several spas; in addition to expanding my own thriving business treating private clientele.  My experience in these various settings have enabled me to become a versatile therapist who can address a broad range of symptoms, while always considerate of the client's level of comfort and promoting relaxation.

What is your cancellation policy?
I ask that you give me a minimum of 24-hours notice if you choose to cancel or reschedule your appointment.  Otherwise you will be charged in full for the session.

How do I schedule an appointment?
The best way to schedule a massage and/or Reiki session is to phone me at (805) 637-3586.  For less timely inquiries, feel free to drop me an email.
